From May 27–29, 2026, the annual workshop of the consortium of the DKU was held in Zittau, Germany, hosted by the Hochschule Zittau/Görlitz.
The event traditionally brought together representatives of German partner universities, the leadership of the DKU German project office, representatives of the DAAD, and a delegation from DKU to discuss the university’s strategic development directions and strengthen academic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany.

At the opening of the workshop, welcoming speeches were delivered by the Rector of Hochschule Zittau/Görlitz, the President of DKU, and the head of the DKU German project office. The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Germany also addressed participants via a video message.
The workshop covered DKU development results, improvements in double degree programs and curricula, DAAD project activities, and the development of the Kazakhstan-German Institute for Sustainable Engineering (KINI).
DKU President Dr. Wolrad Rommel presented a report on the university’s strategic development and new hybrid teaching formats. Rector A.A. Azhibayeva and Vice President A.N. Zhilkaidarov participated in discussions on cooperation with German partner universities, academic mobility, and joint international projects.
On the second day, presentations by DKU faculties were held, along with meetings between deans and representatives of German universities focusing on prospects for cooperation in academic programs and research initiatives.
The development of the DKU language concept was also discussed, with a presentation delivered by DAAD visiting lecturer Andreas Chetkowski.
The participation of the expanded DKU delegation helped strengthen cooperation with German partners and explore new opportunities for joint educational and research projects.
