Rector
Azhibayeva Assel Auezova received her PhD in Economics in 2010. Her dissertation was devoted to the topic «Improving the organizational and economic mechanism of insurance in crop production in Kazakhstan (based on the materials of the Almaty region)». Her teaching and research activities began in 1998 in the Kazakh State Academy of Architecture and Construction at the Department of «Economics in construction». She has been working at the Kazakh-German University since its foundation — more than 20 years.
Assel currently holds the position of Rector of the Kazakh-German University.
Beimenbetov Serik
Vice-president for Research and Innovation
Dr. Beimenbetov Serik completed his PhD at the Department of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Exeter, United Kingdom. He has degrees in political science, modern and contemporary history, and international relations from the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg (Germany) and the Kazakh State National Al-Farabi University. Prior to joining the DKU, he held teaching posts at the American University of Central Asia and the University of Central Asia (both Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan).
Barbara Janusz-Pawletta
Vice-president for International Cooperation and Sustainable Development
Since 2011, Dr Barbara Janusz-Pawletta on behalf of DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) is building up and supervising the regional MA Program on Integrated Water Management in Central Asia at the Kazakh-German University in Almaty. Since 2016, she is a UNESCO Chairholder for water management in Central Asia. Her teaching and research fields cover legal framework and institutional interstate cooperation. Since 2004, she has on hers account more than 35 research publications in various sources, including foreign ones.
Currently Dr. Barbara Janusz-Pawletta is also the сo-editor of the Journal of the Central Asian Journal of Water Research (CAJWR), which is open-access, peer-reviewed e-Journal dedicated to all aspects of water management in the region of Central Asia. She has a membership at the Technical Committee of the Global Water Partnership (GWP) and at International Law Association within the Committee” Role of International Law in Sustainable Natural Resource Management for Development”.
