The Kazakh-German University in Almaty cordially invites esteemed scholars and researchers from diverse fields including regional studies, comparative politics, international relations, economics, history, sociology, anthropology, linguistics, and related disciplines to contribute to the upcoming DKU International Conference on «Central Asia's Transformations: Politics, Economics, and Society.»

Central Asia stands at the crossroads of history, culture, and geopolitics, undergoing dynamic transformations that deeply impact its political, economic, and social landscapes. The DKU International Conference serves as a vital platform to engage in scholarly discourse, facilitating a nuanced understanding of these transformations. Our goal is to dissect the intricate interplay of regional dynamics amidst global trends and influences, offering insightful analyses and fostering dialogue on future trajectories.

We invite submissions on the following themes, but not limited to:

- Development of IT technologies, logistics and trade

- Social welfare and inequality
- Security and Conflict:
- Security challenges and responses
- Terrorism and extremism
- Transnational threats
- Conflict resolution and peacebuilding efforts
We welcome proposals for full panels, roundtables, and individual paper presentations that deal with these critical issues, offering diverse perspectives and innovative insights. Participants are encouraged to engage in interdisciplinary exchanges, fostering collaboration and enriching the discourse on Central Asia's transformations.
Submission Guidelines:
Panel and roundtable proposals should include a brief description of the theme, objectives, and proposed speakers.
Individual paper proposals should consist of an abstract (max. 300 words) outlining the research objectives, methodology, and key findings.
Submissions should be sent to conference@dku.kz with the subject line «Abstract Submission — Central Asia’s Transformation Conference»
Proposals should be submitted by 30 June, 2024.
Notification of acceptance will be sent by 15 July, 2024.
The conference will consider abstracts in English, Russian, German and Kazakh (with English translation).

Publication Opportunities:
Selected papers presented at the conference will be considered for publication in a special issue of Central Asian Affairs or an edited volume.
